The TRANS-LOGGER system
Wireless system for controlling transport conditions
The TRANS-LOGGER system is a set of devices and software used to document the course of transport conditions, which measures and registers temperature, door opening and vehicle location. It is indispensable wherever applied ISO or GMP quality systems require professional documenting of cold supply chain and storage of temperature-sensitive products, so-called “Cold chain”.
The TRANS-LOGGER system consists of devices with their own independent power supply: data recorder in the driver’s cabin as well as temperature and door opening sensors in the cargo space. The data logger in the driver’s cabin can be any tablet, smartphone or specialized Android terminal.
Sensors for temperature and door opening are specialized temperature recorders from LAB-EL: with WiFi interface (type LB-523TD, LB-533T) or with Bluetooth interface (type LB-518).
A TRANS-LOGGER system with a WiFi interface installed in a single vehicle enables measurement, visualization and temperature registration of up to four measurement points and supervision of the opening of two vehicle doors. However, the TRANS-LOGGER-B system with Bluetooth interface enables measurement, visualization and temperature registration in up to thirty measurement points in one vehicle (without door control).
Data recorder in the driver’s cab
The data recorder in the driver’s cabin can be any tablet, smartphone or specialist terminal with Android system (at least 4.4) with the TRANS-LOGGER application installed. The recorder receives wirelessly from the sensors the measurement results and saves them in its memory at set intervals. In case of loss of radio connection between the recorder and sensors, the recorder, after reconnection with the sensors, reads the missing measurements from the sensor’s memory and completes its local database. It is possible to review the history of measurements in the form of reports, charts and maps with registered routes.
The recorder enables the display of the current temperatures in the individual monitored zones, the status of the door sensors and the battery status of the sensors. It is possible to set alarm thresholds (lower temperature threshold, upper temperature threshold, door open time), the exceeding of which will be signaled on the display, sound and stored in the memory. From the recorded measurements of transport conditions a report is created, which can be printed on a local printer upon delivery and saved in memory in the CSV and PDF formats. The created reports can be sent by e-mail to the e-mail address.
Sensors for temperature measurement and door opening
Sensors for temperature control and door opening with WiFi interface are wireless specialized temperature recorders LB-523TD WiFi (for temperature measurement and door control at one point) or LB-533T WiFi temperature recorder (with four external thermometers and two door sensors). Sensors are independent devices with their own battery power supply, have their own non-volatile memory and conduct continuous measurement registrations.
Temperature sensors transmit measurement data to the recorder via radio using the WiFi radio interface working in the 2.4 GHz band. After connecting with the recorder in the driver’s cabin, the sensors provide the missing measurements to the recorder. In the case of problems with WiFi coverage or recorder failure, historical data can be read directly from the sensors using their USB interface, which guarantees high security of the collected measurement data.
Power supply of the WiFi sensors with a registration interval of 15 minutes is enough for about 12 months of uninterrupted operation. It is possible to easily change the power source in sensors, which are two typical 1.5V batteries (size AA).
The sensors measure the temperature with a resolution of 0.1°C and with an accuracy no worse than 0.3°C. The minimum number of records stored in the memory of each sensor is 30,000 individual results of temperature measurement or door open time. When the memory is full, the oldest measurements in the sensors are overwritten by the latest ones.
Sensors for temperature and door opening have fastening elements that enable easy assembly and disassembly inside the car’s cargo area.
The thermometers for temperature measurement can, on request, have an individual calibration certificate at the required measurement points issued by the Accredited Calibration Laboratory LAB-EL. Periodically, sensors can be re-calibrated in the Laboratory to confirm their correct operation and error-free measurement.
